ACHIEVEMENTS OF RAAP

The Rifle Association of Andhra Pradesh was re-established in 2003 and since then has been actively involved in promoting shooting across many districts and at the state level. Demonstration and awareness programs were conducted across Nalgonda, Mehaboobnagar, Kurnool, Guntur, Nellore, RR, Medak, Vijayawada, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, and Hyderabad districts. Andhra Pradesh Sports School, Central School, and Osmania University have included shooting in their sports calendar programs.

2003

1st Afro Asian Games & Coaching Camp

R.A.A.P individually conducted the 1st Afro Asian Games in which more than 30 countries participated. A major Coaching Camp involved over 100 shooters and officials. The 'Sanghi Group' provided accommodation and boarding at no cost. Shooters from AP benefited from Indian and Foreign coaches.

2004

1st Open District Shooting Competition

In association with the Rifle Association of Ranga Reddy District, RAAP conducted the 1st Open District Shooting Competition. Around 120 shooters from 12 districts participated. This triggered district associations to actively run their own open competitions.

2005

1st South Zone Shooting Competition

RAAP conducted the 1st South Zone Shooting Competition at Gachibowli, Hyderabad. Shooters from 4 States participated. Successive 2nd and 3rd South Zone competitions followed. In 2005, Hyderabad district also conducted its first open competition with 130 shooters from 8 districts.

2006

India's 1st State-Level Big Bore Shooting Competition

RAAP became the first association in India to conduct a state-level Big Bore Shooting competition, at Premavathipet Shooting Ranges. 48 shooters participated; 35 qualified for G.V. Mavalankar. The following year, 62 participated at Military Shooting Ranges, Bolaram — 52 selected for G.V. Mavalankar.

2007

47th National Shooting Championship (NSCC), Hyderabad

With NRAI's support, RAAP successfully hosted the 47th NSCC in Hyderabad. Around 880 shooters from all over India participated. This was a landmark event that brought national recognition to RAAP. RAAP also introduced shooting in Government schools, GHMC, and Military Schools.

2009

49th National Shooting Championship (NSIL), Hyderabad

NRAI again allotted the 49th NSIL to RAAP. The competition was conducted to international standards. Ministers, MPs, and the Chief Minister were involved in making it a grand success. This cemented RAAP's position at the All-India level.
